Recently, Huawei was said to be going to adopt the graphene battery for its Huawei P40 Pro. It would be a great change from the lithium-ion batteries that every smartphone makers are using. This new battery technology also allows smaller smartphone body and chassis. Sadly, the news is now confirmed to be fake and it is still a long way until we see a smartphone with graphene battery.
The official Twitter account of Huawei France recently said about the graphene battery. In the tweet, it claimed that the upcoming Huawei flagship, P40 Pro, will not feature a graphene battery as reported. Previously, people already pointed out that the new battery technology was pretty much impossible and it is too early to adopt it in any smartphone.
In case you don’t know what is graphene battery. It is a revolutionary material that will promise a fast charging rate and a much better battery endurance. That means users can charge their battery much faster than the standard Lithium-ion batteries and it will stay there for a longer amount of time. Moreover, batteries made of graphene will also use less space in a phone.
However, it is currently impossible for Huawei to use one in its forthcoming P40 Pro or other companies in their upcoming flagships. Famous tipster IceUniverse had also ridiculed this speculation by claiming that the tech is currently impossible.
Why is it impossible? It is mostly because the tech hasn’t been fully developed yet and it is really hard to commercialize it at the moment. We have only heard a few rumors about this tech until recently. Even Samsung, which had a head start over other firms, are not expecting to use a graphene battery on its smartphones until 2021 or later.
