The renders of the upcoming Huawei P40 & P40 Pro were shared online this week. The photos not only showed the design of the duo, but also revealed their color options. And now, a tipster @RODENT950 went on Twitter and tipped the camera setup of Huawei’s two next flagships.
As per @RODENT950 Tweet, the Huawei P40 will sport a triple camera lens setup that consists of a 52MP primary sensor with a size of 1/1.3”, a 40MP ultra-wide Cine camera with an ultra-wide lens, a size of 1/1.5”, and an 8MP telephoto lens with support for 3x optical zoom.
The P40 Pro, on the other hand, is tipped to carry the same 40MP ultra-wide Cine camera with a size of 1/1.5” and a 52MP primary sensor with a size of 1/1.3”. However, instead of a telephoto lens, the company will use a periscope lens on the Huawei P40 Pro, similar to what they did on its predecessor P30 Pro. This lens will offer a higher level of optical zoom, 5x at least, and a higher level of digital zoom as well.
It is expected that both the Huawei P40 and P40 Pro come with the same main sensor and Cine camera as it already happened with the P30 and P30 Pro. However, just like their predecessors, their sensors should have different apertures. In addition, the tipster also said that the Cine camera would have a wider field of view, which is the drawback of the Cine camera on the Mate 30 Pro compared to the ultra-wide-angle lens of other smartphones.
We haven’t heard anything about their selfie cameras. Both of them will likely feature a dual selfie camera setup placed in a pill-shaped cut-out at the upper left corner of the screen. If Huawei decides to use the same setup as the Huawei Nova 6 5G, then the front camera setup could include a main sensor and an ultra-wide camera.
The company is expected to release the Huawei P40 series in March at a launch event in Paris. Both of them will be powered by the latest Kirin 990 SoC with 5G connectivity support. The third offering in the series could be called Huawei P40 Lite, but a previous leak suggested that it could be just a rebranded-model of Huawei Nova 6 SE launched December last year.
