Huawei P40 Shows Up On Hands-On Photos Way Ahead Of Launch

Even though the publication claims that the phone in the photo is the Huawei P40, it appears to match the descriptions of the Huawei P40 Pro more.

Huawei will announce its P40 series on 26 March. The lineup is said to include Huawei P40 Lite, P40, P40 Pro, and P40 Pre PE (Premium Edition). Nearly a month ahead of its launch, hands-on videos and photos of the Huawei P40 prototype have surfaced online thanks to Digital Trends.

You might notice the unusual Blink and Polarie codenames instead of the Leica and Huawei branding. However, these are the codenames Huawei uses on its smartphone prototypes. You can see that the handset features rounded corners and aesthetically pleasing design with a reflective back panel.
The size of the Huawei P40 is nearly the same as the Pro model. On the right side, there are a power button and a volume rocker while the bottom edge houses a USB Type-C port and no headphone jack, which has already removed since the Huawei P20 series. As expected, the handset doesn’t have a fingerprint reader at the back and will most likely feature an in-display fingerprint sensor just like its predecessor.

While many phone makers and Huawei have gone for the rectangular camera module, Huawei still retains the same camera placement on the P40 as it did on the P30 series. There are still triple rear cameras placed vertically while a ToF sensor will be placed in another module with an LED flash and a microphone hole. The three cameras are said to be a 52MP sensor, a 40MP sensor, and an 8MP telephoto lens.
The hands-on video and photos don’t show the front panel of the phone, but the publication said that the handset has a curved display. Interestingly, even though Digital Trends claims that this phone is the Huawei P40, we suspect that it could be the Huawei P40 Pro. Previous reports suggested that the Huawei P40 would have a flat display and triple rear cameras, which are not in line with what the publication said. In fact, it actually matches the description of the P40 Pro as it was reported to carry quad rear cameras and curved display.
