Huawei P30 Pro Sets New Standards For Smartphone Cameras

The Huawei P30 proves that the company is the current pioneer when it comes to smartphone cameras

The Huawei P30 Pro is the pioneer in utilizing 5x optical zoom that uses a periscope design as well as four cameras on its back.

With this improvement, Huawei has intensified the race by setting new standards for both the performance and the versatility of the camera despite the fact that the company is under a lot of political complication recently.

The P30’s predecessor, the Huawei P20 Pro, features three cameras, one fewer than the latest launch and 3x optical zoom. To enhance portrait pictures taken by the P30 along with its AR mode, Huawei has added time-of-flight and a depth-sensing camera to its P30. This addition further supports the 40-megapixel camera and the 20-megapixel ultrawide one.

According to the company, the SuperSpectrum camera of the Huawei P30 can take in much more light, making it a competent device for taking photos when the surrounding environment is in short of light. This a field that Huawei and Google are dominant.

The 8-megapixel SuperZoom camera, with a part works like a periscope, makes use of a prism to clear enough space so that the phone can house the range of lenses needed to operate the 5x optical zoom. This is what set the P30 apart.

According to Peter Gauden, global senior product marketing manager at CBG London Hub, Huawei Technologies, the company was changing the whole set of rules for smartphones cameras. It is able to do this because Huawei has the entire ecosystem inside the phone, from the smallest details. He revealed this information when asked about the processors and chips made by the company.

Huawei said that the P30’s 5x optical zoom is unbeatable as for the time being, other smartphone providers can only offer 2x optical zoom. Another feature the company takes pride of is its detailed pictures the P30’s cameras can produce, thanks to its 10x hybrid zoom and 50x digital zoom. They make use of data collected by many cameras to make this happen.

Despite this impressive addition, the P30 might not succeed in drawing the public attention to encourage people to go for an upgrade. The P20 released last year was also an excellent smartphone from Huawei. They are still on the market, and their price has never been better. Even if the P30 cannot be appealing enough for people to upgrade, it is another example of how competent Huawei is in photo-centric smartphones, said Ben Wood of CCS Insight.

The Huawei P20 Pro is the best value for money

Cameras and photos aside, the Huawei P30 has other features that users might find interesting. It sports a 6.47in OLED screen and a notch that house a 32-megapixel selfie camera. On the other end, there is an in-display fingerprint scanner that Huawei said to be better than that of the P20. The earpiece speaker is also absent on the P30 as the company has replaced it with something it calls “electromagnetic levitation,” which causes the top of the screen to vibrate and make call audio.

Other than these above improvements, the Huawei P30 shares the rest of the features with the Mate 20 Pro. The battery can sustain for a long time and support both 15W wireless charging and 40W charges with wires. The appearance with curved glass is on both versions.

The P30 Pro will set you back Rs. 77,890, but if you cannot stretch your pocket enough for this version, Huawei also release a smaller and less expensive one, which features a 6.1in OLED screen, the in-display fingerprint scanner. Instead of a quadrant camera system on the back, the latter version only has three. In the place of the curved glass, there are the usual flat glass in the front and the back.
