After many leaks, Huawei finally officially launches the new Nova 8 series including Huawei Nova 8 and Nova 8 Pro in China.
Huawei Nova 8 & Nova 8 Pro: Specifications & Features
The Nova 8 and Nova 8 Pro have an almost identical design: both are finished from glass with a metal frame on the side. The only difference comes from the size of the camera cluster at the back and the screen size on the front.
The standard Nova 8 is equipped with a 6.57-inch screen, while the Pro version has a larger 6.72-inch screen. Both displays are curved on the side and use OLED panels, support 10-bit color display, and have a 90Hz (Nova 8) and 120Hz refresh rate (Nova 8 Pro). In addition, the resolution on the Pro version is also slightly higher than the standard version (1236 x 2676 pixels compared to 1080 x 2340 pixels). Both phones have in-display fingerprint sensors for security.
Even though the Pro model has a slightly larger camera module, they share the same 64MP (wide angle) + 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera with a 120-degrees FOV + 2MP (depth) + 2MP (macro). The only difference is that the 64MP camera on the Pro version has a slightly larger f / 1.8 aperture compared to the f / 1.9 on the standard version.
For selfies and video calls, the Nova 8 only has a single 32MP selfie camera, while the Pro version has a 16MP + 32MP dual selfie camera.
In terms of performance, Huawei equips both phones with the Kirin 985 5G chipset. This is also the chip used on the Nova 7 5G and Nova 7 Pro 5G launched in April this year. That means, in terms of CPU, there is no upgrade compared to its predecessor. The two Nova 8 phones 8GB of RAM and 128GB / 256GB storage.
In terms of battery life, the standard Nova 8 comes with a 3,800mAh battery, while the Pro version has a 4,000mAh battery. Both support 66W fast charging technology similar to the high-end Mate40 series as well as 5W reverse wireless charging. According to Huawei, the device can be fully charged to 100% in just 35 minutes.
