HTC, a Taiwanese smartphone brand that was once famous, recently launched a new product after a long absence in the smartphone market. This time, HTC launched two new mid-range smartphones called HTC U20 5G and Desire 20 Pro. Both smartphones are in the mid-range segment, with the HTC U20 5G being the more premium one. While the U20 5G gets a Snapdragon 765G and 5G support, the Desire 20 Pro is powered by a Snapdragon 665 SoC.
HTC U20 5G
HTC has previously been rumored to launch a 5G smartphone of its own in 2020, and perhaps the U20 5G is that one. However, this is actually just a mid-range smartphone instead of a flagship like many people expected. The HTC U20 5G was launched exclusively for the Taiwan market and there is no word on its availability and pricing in other markets.
HTC U20 5G is equipped with a 6.8-inch LCD screen on the front, featuring Full-HD+ resolution, a 20:9 screen ratio, and using a punch-hole design with a single 32MP selfie camera.
On the back, the device is equipped with a quad-camera array including a 48MP f / 1.8 wide-angle camera, an 8MP f / 2.2 ultra-wide-angle camera with a 118-degree viewing angle, a 2MMP f / 2.4 depth-sensing camera and a macro 2MP f / 2.4 camera.
In terms of performance, HTC U20 5G is equipped with Snapdragon 765G chip, aided by 8GB RAM and 256GB storage. The battery of the device has a capacity of 5000mAh and it supports 18W fast charging with QC 4.0 technology. It runs on Android 10 out of the box.
HTC Desire 20 Pro
This is also another mid-range smartphone of HTC but has a lower configuration than the U20 and does not support 5G. The handset is equipped with a 6.5 inch LCD screen on the front, also features Full-HD+ resolution and a punch-hole style with a single 25MP selfie camera.
The back of the device is where the main camera of 48MP + 8MP + 2MP + 2MP is located vertically similar to the U20 5G. This back is designed with eye-catching diagonal stripes, looks like high-grade carbon fibers.
The HTC Desire 20 Pro is equipped with Snapdragon 665 chip and available in a single model with 6GB RAM + 128GB memory. The battery of the device has a capacity of 5,000mAh and supports fast charging QC 3.0. In addition, the handset is also equipped with a 3.5mm headphone jack, something that U20 5G does not have.
Currently, HTC has not announced the official price for its two new mid-range smartphones. Both are only limited to the Taiwan market. In the future, it is likely that the Desire 20 Pro will be distributed to other markets including Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.
