Honor V30 & V30 Pro Arrive With Kirin 990 SoC & 5G Connectivity

Honor V30 and Honor V30 Pro come with the flagship Kirin 990 SoC, 5G network, and triple rear cameras for a starting price of around Rs. 34,000.

Honor V30 and Honor V30 Pro have been introduced at a launch event in China. These two phones arrive as the direct successor to the Honor V20 and Honor V20 Pro that were released last year with a HiSilicon Kirin 980 chipset. In these phones, Huawei’s sub-brand Honor has packed them with several upgrades compared to its predecessors such as a more powerful Kirin 990 SoC with support for 5G network. Both of them support 5G connectivity with NSA (non-standalone mode) and SA (stand-alone mode). Hole-punch displays, gradient glass finish, EMUI 10, and 40MP triple camera cluster are other highlights of the duo.

Honor V30 & Honor V30 Pro: Availability & Price

The price of the Honor V30 in China is set at CNY 3,299 (roughly Rs. 33,500) for the variant with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. The price goes up to CNY 3,699 (roughly Rs. 37,600) for the 8GB RAM / 128GB storage variant.

Meanwhile, its sibling Honor V30 Pro is priced at CNY 3,899 (roughly Rs. 39,600) for the 8GB RAM / 128GB storage option and CNY 4,199 (roughly Rs. 43,700) for the 8GB RAM / 256GB storage model. 

Both of them will be available in Magic Night Star River, Icelandic Fantasy, Twilight Orange, and Charm Star Blue hues. Interested users can start pre-ordering them in China from 26 November.

Honor V30 and Honor V30 Pro both sport a 6.57-inch IPS LCD display with FHD+ resolution and a screen-to-body ratio of 91.46. While the vanilla V30 comes with a Kirin 990 chipset with Balong 5000 modem for 5G network, its sibling V30 Pro is powered by a Kirin 990 5G processor with Liquid Cooling technology. As above, the former is available in two models - 6GB RAM / 128GB storage and 8GB RAM / 128GB storage, the latter comes in two variants - 8GB RAM / 128GB storage and 8GB RAM / 256GB storage. For software, both of them will ship with Android 10 pre-loaded and Huawei’s EMUI on top.

On the side, there is a fingerprint reader available on both of the phones for security. In terms of camera, the Honor V30 is equipped with a triple camera cluster on the rear that includes a 40MP main sensor, an 8MP wide-angle snapper with OIS, and an 8MP telephoto camera. The rear setup supports 5-axis EIS, ultra-low-vision, and 4K HRD video recording. As for the differences between the two, the Pro model has a faster f/1.6 lens in comparison with the f/1.8 lens on the Honor V30. Moreover, the former also has a 12MP ultra-wide-angle camera with an f/2.2 lens and 16:9 ratio, which is claimed to be better tailored for video recording.

On the front, the V30 has two selfie cameras, which are 32MP main camera with Super Night Mode and an 8MP ultra-wide-angle shooter with a 105-degree field of view. The setup is housed in a pill-shaped cutout on the top left corner. Under the hood, both phones get a 4,200 mAh battery that can be charged with several charging technologies, which are 27W wireless charging, 40W fast-charging solution, and 7.5W wireless reverse charging.
