Honor has recently announced on Weibo that it will introduce its Honor V30 series powered by a Kirin 990 chipset with 5G modem in China. As you may know, Kirin 990 chipset launched at IFA 2019 is the company’s flagship chipset which is produced on the 7nm process like the Kirin 980. It has the support for 5G connectivity and is expected to be more powerful and efficient than ever. The V30 is probably the brand’s second phone to be powered by Kirin 990 chipset under the hood after the Mate 30 Pro which is set to debut at a Germany-based event on 19 September.
To recall, the Kirin 990 has 4 performance Cortex A55 cores 4 Cortex A76 cores. Out of 4 Cortex A76 cores, 2 cores have the clock speed of 2.86 GHz while the other 2 cores have the clock speed of 2.36 GHz. Meanwhile, the 4 Cortex A55 cores have a clock speed of 1.95 GHz. This chipset also comes with a Mali G75 CPU and Neural Processing Unit.
So far, the brand has not disclosed the official release date of the V30 series. However, it seems that the phone will arrive in December since the last model in the V series was unveiled around the similar timeline last year. Moreover, the phone could make its ways to the Indian market by the end of this year or sometime in 2020. The phone could have Honor V30 5G commercial name, which was confirmed by the president of the company. Additionally, the handset will have the support for both 4G and 5G networks.
These are all information about the V30 series available at the moment. However, it is suggested that the device could bear a circular rear camera setup like the Mate 30 Pro. The latter reportedly comes with a quad rear camera setup put in 2x2 grid, inside a circular module on the rear panel. The phone is tipped to flaunt a curved full-view display with a notch for housing a selfie camera. Additionally, the device might not support Google services and apps due to the U.S ban.
