Honor 9X is now avialable in a new variant with 8GB of RAM, while the rest of the specifications remain the same as other models.

The Honor 9X is a quite popular mid-range smartphone that was launched in August this year. The phone hasn’t made its way to other markets since its launch. It is only available in China in two variants with 4GB or 6GB of RAM. However, the brand has just announced a new model with 8GB of RAM.

Except for 2GB additional RAM, this new variant still has the same specifications as other variants like Kirin 810 SoC, triple rear cameras, and 6.59-inch Full-HD+ display.

This new variant will come with 128GB of storage and cost RMB 2,099 (around Rs. 20,100). Users can choose between Blue and Black hues.

Huawei's sub-brand Honor releases this new model probably because of how successful the Honor 9X series has been. According to the brand, the series reached 3 million units sold only after 29 days after its official release. One of the keyreasons for its success should be its high value for the money that the phone offers. The Honor 9X’s starting price is Rs. 15,000, which is decent for its specifications.

Honor 9X: Specifications

The Honor 9X is packed with a 6.59-inch FHD+ display with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. Powering the phone is a Kirin 810 SoC that is aided by up to 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage (expandable up to 512GB). For taking photos, users can use either a dual camera setup at the back with a 48MP main sensor and a 2MP depth sensor; or a 16MP pop-up selfie camera on the front.

It ships with Android 9 Pie out of the box with EMUI 9.1 on top to take care of the software side of things. Its battery capacity is 4,000 mAh, which is quite high for a mid-range smartphone. However, its battery only supports the standard 10W fast charging solution, so it might take a while to fully charge the phone. Finally, its back is mounted with a fingerprint scanner for biometric security.
