Nearly a year ago, Huawei unveiled the Honor 8X in September last year. The handset quickly gathered a massive amount of attention with its large display, beefy battery, and stunning design.

The handset was the best-selling phone online in its home soil China for 4 straight months and reached 10 million units sold after 173 days since its official launch. And now, Honor’s VP Xiong Jumin said at a Kirin 810 meeting that the handset has now reached 15 million devices sold in the global market, making it the most successful smartphone ever under Honor brand.

The successor to the Honor 8X series, Honor 9X, is scheduled to make its debut in the Chinese market on 23 July. The forthcoming lineup will likely include a standard Honor 9X and a Pro version as well. The two phones are expected to be driven by Huawei’s latest Kirin 810 octa-core processor, which was announced alongside the Nova 5 series last month. Moreover, the series is said to feature the pop-up camera design, dual rear cameras, and a truly bezel-less screen. Other specs are still under wraps at the moment. However, it isn’t too far from the launch date, there should be more details in the coming time.
Honor 8X: Specifications

The handset sports a 6.5-inch FHD+ IPS LCD panel with Gorilla Glass 3 protection and a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. Software-wise, it boots Android 8.1 Oreo at launch and is now upgradeable to Android 9 Pie with Huawei’s EMUI 9 on top. Powering the handset is a Kirin 710 SoC, paired with up to 6GB RAM / 128GB storage.

In terms of camera, it sports a 20MP primary camera and a 2MP depth sensor at the rear as well as a 16MP f/2.0 selfie camera on the front. Finally, fueling the entire setup is a 3,750 mAh battery with support for 10W charging solution.
