After launching the Honor 8A Pro in the Russian market earlier this month, Huawei’s sub-brand Honor now introduced a new offering in the market dubbed Honor 8S. The handset was featured in quite a few leaks in the last few weeks. This affordable phone is the successor to the Honor 7S that was launched last year. Some key highlights of the handset are a water-drop notched display, an entry-level quad-core MTK chipset clocked at 2.0 GHz, and Android 9 Pie.
Honor 8S: Price
The handset is priced at 8,490 RUB which is equivalent to around Rs. 9,200. It is offered in three color variants, including Blue, Black, and Gold.
It is unknown whether the company will bring this handset to India and other markets or not. We will update as soon there is news about it.
Honor 8S: Specs & Features
The handset comes with a 5.71-inch HD+ panel with a 1,520 x 720p resolution, 19:9 aspect ratio and a tiny water-drop notch on the top housing a selfie camera. Powering the device is a quad-core MTK MT6765 SoC coupled with 2GB RAM/32GB of storage which is expandable via a microSD card slot up to 512GB.
In terms of camera, the affordable Honor phone features a single 13MP rear camera with an LED flash under the camera. Up front, it has a 5MP selfie camera for video calling and taking selfies. As for software, it ships with Huawei’s EMUI 9.0 at launch, and it is based on the latest Android 9.0 Pie.
Its connectivity options are dual SIM card slot, Wi-Fi, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi Direct, a micro-USB port, Bluetooth v5.0, and a 3.5mm audio jack. For security, users can unlock the phone with Facial Recognition feature instead of a fingerprint reader. Lastly, there is a 3,020mAh cell ticking at its core with no fast charging support which is quite common for its price range.
