Brands like Honor, Xiaomi, Vivo, Realme, Oppo, and Huawei have all launched at least one phone with the pop-up camera design, which allows them to go for a full-screen display and thin bezels. Honor 9X
The newly-announced Honor 9X is one of the latest smartphones with a pop-up camera available in the market, and it is expected to come to India very soon. The mid-range handset is equipped with a 16MP selfie camera placed on a pop-up module. Powering the phone is a Kirin 810 SoC, which is also launched recently by Huawei. The processor is coupled with up to 6GB of RAM / 128GB of storage.
On the front, it sports a 6.59-inch LCD panel with Full-HD+ resolution. In terms of camera, there is a dual-camera setup at its back with a 48MP Sony IMX586 primary sensor and a 2MP depth sensor. Software-wise, it ships with Huawei’s EMUI 9.1 based on Android 9 Pie. Other features include a rear-mounted fingerprint reader and a 4,000 mAh battery.
The phone is available in three variants -- 4GB RAM / 64GB of storage, 6GB of RAM / 64GB of storage, and 8GB RAM / 128GB storage. They are currently priced at RMB 1,399 (roughly 14,000), RMB 1,599 (roughly Rs. 16,000), and RMB 1,899 (roughly Rs. 19,000), respectively.
Redmi K20
Redmi K20 series is the latest series from the Xiaomi’s sub-brand, and it includes Redmi K20 and Redmi K20 Pro. While the Redmi K20 Pro is more of an affordable flagship, the Redmi K20 falls on the mid-range segment. Both phones feature a pop-up selfie camera on the front.
The Redmi K20 sports a 6.39-inch Full-HD+ AMOLED panel with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio and Gorillas Glass 5 protection layer. It is driven by a Snapdragon 730 SoC, paired with up to 8GB RAM / 256GB of storage. Camera-wise, it is equipped with triple rear cameras which are a 48MP primary sensor, a 13MP ultra-wide camera, and an 8MP telephoto sensor. Fueling the whole setup is a 4,000 mAh battery with support for 18W fast charging solution. Finally, it features an in-display fingerprint reader for biometric security.
The Redmi K20 is currently retailed at Rs. 21,999 and Rs. 23,999 for the 6GB RAM / 64GB of storage variant and 6GB of RAM / 128GB of storage option, respectively.
Realme X
Realme X is the first phone from the former Oppo’s sub-brand with a pop-up camera. On the front, it features a 6.53-inch AMOLED panel with FHD+ resolution and a layer of Gorilla Glass 5. Ticking at its core is a Snapdragon 710 octa-core processor, paired with 8GB of RAM / 128GB of storage.
In terms of camera, it ships with a dual-camera setup, including a 48MP primary camera and a 5MP depth sensor. For selfies and video chats, there is a 16MP pop-up selfie camera on the front. Similar to the Redmi K20, the Realme X is also equipped with an in-display fingerprint scanner for security. Keeping the phone running is a 3,765 mAh battery with 20W fast charging support.
The phone already made its way to India and is now available in two memory configurations. The base option with 4GB of RAM + 128GB of storage is priced at Rs. 16,999, whereas the top-end variant with 8GB RAM / 128GB storage can be purchased for Rs. 19,999.
OPPO K3
The Oppo K3 is another newly-launched smartphone with a pop-up selfie camera. Upfront, it has a 6.5-inch AMOLED panel with FHD+ resolution and an on-screen fingerprint reader for security. It is equipped with a Snapdragon 710 SoC, accompanied by up to 8GB RAM and 256GB of storage.
On the imaging front, it features a dual-camera system that includes a 16MP primary camera and a 2MP depth sensor. On the front, there is a 16MP camera for taking selfies and video calling. It is kept running by a 3,765 mAh battery with 20W fast charging solution (VOOC 3.0).
Its base variant with 6GB RAM / 64GB storage is available for sale at Rs. 16,990, while the top-end option with 8GB RAM / 128GB storage is priced at Rs. 19,990.
Vivo V15
The Vivo V15 is among the best selling mid-range phones made by Vivo. The handset sports a 6.53” IPS LCD display with an FHD+ resolution and Gorillas Glass 5 protection. Software-wise, it ships with Android 9 Pie with FunTouchOS 9 on top. Powering the phone is an Helio P70 SoC along with 6GB of RAM and 64/128GB of storage, which can be expanded to 256GB using a microSD card.
In the imaging department, it is equipped with a triple camera system, comprising of a 24MP primary camera, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide shooter, and a 5MP depth sensor. Huawei Y9 Prime 2019
Unlike other phones in the list, the Huawei Y9 Prime 2019 hasn't been available in India yet, and it is expected to launch in the country on 1 August with a 16MP pop-up selfie camera. It sports a 6.59-inch Full-HD+ IPS LCD panel with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. It runs on a Kirin 710 SoC, paired with 4GB RAM and up to 128GB storage.
