The Samsung Galaxy S20 carries a Snapdragon 865 while the Galaxy S10 packs a Snapdragon 855. And the former is significantly more powerful than the latter.

Specifically, Snapdragon 865 runs on TSMC's 7nm second-generation process, which is the same process on the Apple A13 chip of iPhone 11. Meanwhile, Exynos 990 also runs on EUV 7nm process and owns impressive processing speed. Previously, the Exynos chip line always outperformed the Snapdragon in the multi-core test while the Snapdragon excels at graphics processing. Both processors will support 5G networks.

Specifically, the Exynos 990 chipset built on the 7nm process while Exynos 9820 on the Galaxy S10 is built on the 8nm process. In addition, Qualcomm also promises the performance of the Snapdragon 865 chipset will be 25% higher than the Snapdragon 855. Not only is the processing speed faster, but also the accompanying features such as the 5G modem also work more efficiently.

Below is a table comparing the specifications of the top 4 processors available on the market: Exynos 990, Snapdragon 865, Snapdragon 855+ and Apple A13.

Given the fierce competition in the current chipset market, it would not be surprising if the performance of this year's chipsets is far superior to last year's.

In addition, Droidshout has revealed a first benchmark comparison between Galaxy S20 + (US version) running Snapdragon 865 chipset and Galaxy S10 running Snapdragon 855.

As can be seen, the Galaxy S20+ is listed with the new Snapdragon 865 SoC, which has a higher clock speed. It is also revealed to pack 12GB of RAM as tipped by previous rumors.

According to statistics on Geekbench 5.1, the Galaxy S20 + model (code SM-G986U) has higher single-core and multi-core scores compared to the Snapdragon 855 on Galaxy S10. Specifically, the single point of Galaxy S20 + is 923 points and multi-core is 3267 points while the Galaxy S10 benchmark score is only 736 points and 2623 points.

So we can expect an impressive performance on the Galaxy S20 series coming in February.
