After months of rumor and leaked information, Google has just launched the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL and confirmed what we have already known for some time now. With the two new phones, we will have a 90Hz display, a face unlocking feature, a double camera setup, and gesture controls.
One of the highlights is the departure of the notch, which is because of a simple reason, to add in lots of new technologies.
Now, the bar at the top has a near-infrared flood emitter, a selfie-camera, the first radar chip on a smartphone, and a dot projector. With the Soli radar chip, users can control the phone by using gestures. For example, to change the songs, answer a phone call, or turn off the alarms, all users have to do is to swipe their arm.
Pixel 4 and 4 XL now have the face unlock feature, which the company said was the best on the market right now and could work even in a low light condition.
Another handy new feature is another way to handle your data on the hardware. Now, all you need to do is to push a button.

Some people think that this new feature is Google’s answer to Apple’s focus on privacy and to ease the anger of the public on the way it handles users’ data.
Display
The screen of Pixel 4 is an FHD+ flexible OLED panel measuring 5.7 inches and an aspect ratio of 19:9. Pixel 4 XL features a slightly larger display of 6.3 inches, but everything else is the same. The two phones support a refresh rate of 90Hz, courtesy of the Smart Display technology. Users have the choice to adjust this to prevent the battery from draining too fast.
Cameras
Pixel 4 and 4 XL have the same camera setup on the back consisting of a 12MP and a 16MP lenses. On the front, users will have an 8MP camera for selfie with a 90-degree field of view, which means you can have more people on one photo. The hybrid zoom software is another highlight which can give some incredible results.
The Live HDR+ feature will make sure that users can see what the image will look like in real life on the viewfinder.
Here is a comparison so that you can have a clearer idea of the differences:

Other features include enhanced white balancing, more options to change camera settings, an update to the portrait mode, and Night Sight.
Chipset
The two phones feature the 2.84/1.78 GHz Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor ensuring top-end speed in comparison with other smartphones on the market.
Storage and RAM
The two of them have RAM of 6GB, which does not sound like much, but the amount is enough to keep you going. With the base model, you will have an onboard storage of 64GB. Another choice is 128GB, but since you can store all of your videos and photos in the cloud with no extra fee, this is not much of a problem.
Battery
The Pixel 4 XL has a slightly larger battery of 3,700mAh, while the Pixel 4 only has a cell with 2,800mAh.
Colors
Users have the choice to acquire the phones in white, black, or orange.
Price And Release
The two phones will be released on the 24th of October. However, they will not come to India as the Soli chip is not allowed to operate in the country.
