The screen of Galaxy Z Flip is so fragile that even a fingernail can leave a mark. This performance is no better than that of the Galaxy Fold

When Samsung announced the Galaxy Z Flip with an ultra-thin screen, which attracts lots of attention. The glass material offers more durability and a better feel than the plastic display on the Galaxy Fold.

At least that is what Samsung claims. However, when JerryRigEverything got his hands on a galaxy Z Flip, the reality was a little bleak. The screen is so fragile that even a fingernail can leave a mark. This performance is no better than that of the Galaxy Fold and the Motorola Razr.

Nelson of JerryRigEverything, after seeing how bad it was for the Z Flip even went further saying Samsung might not use real glass here, instead, they might utilize some sort of polymer-glass hybrid.

Things are a little bit more complicated than that. Samsung said that while the Galaxy Z Flip uses glass to offer a more immersive experience, as well as a premium look, users still have to handle the phone with care and be mindful of the protective layer on top.

As Nelson could leave a mark with just fingernail, the screen may not very durable though.

According to the company, each user can have a one-time screen replacement at a price of $199 (around Rs. 14,206). Owners of the Galaxy Z Flip can also apply for a one-time screen protector at some selected UBreakiFix and Samsung locations.

This was not exactly Samsung’s fault as it has never said that the screen of the Z Flip is more durable than that of the Galaxy Fold. All the company did was to focus on the feel and the design.

However, this test proves that Samsung has not yet solved the issue of foldable phones’ durability. So we might have to wait for a few more years until the day these devices can be as durable as there conventional counterparts.
