In addition to the Samsung Galaxy Note20 and Note20 Ultra duo introduced on the evening of August 5, Samsung also unveiled the second generation of the Galaxy Fold series with a new name: Galaxy Z Fold2. The new version brings significant improvements in design, display, camera, and performance.
The Galaxy Z Fold2 now has a larger screen, covering almost half of the device's external wedge. This screen has a size of 6.2 inches, 2,260 x 816 resolution, 60Hz refresh rate, while the main screen inside has also been upgraded to 7.6 inches in size, 2208 x 1,768 resolution, and has a 120Hz refresh rate. Both displays use flexible OLED panels and the same Infinity-O design. And like the Galaxy Z Flip, the Galaxy Z Fold2's display will feature ultra-thin glass (UTG) technology that will greatly improve the durability of the screen.
One of the significant improvements on the Galaxy Z Fold2 is the hinge area of the device. Now, with the new hinge design, Galaxy Z Fold2 will be able to be used in flexible opening angles instead of just "opening" and "closing in" as the previous generation Galaxy Fold.
In terms of performance, Galaxy Z Fold2 will be equipped with the most powerful Snapdragon 865+ 5G chip, 12GB RAM, 256GB storage. The camera setup includes a 12MP f / 1.8 main camera, a 12MP f / 2.2 ultra-wide-angle camera, a 12MP f / 2.4 telephoto camera as well as a 10MP f / 2.2 selfie camera on the front and a 10MP f / 2.2 selfie camera on the inside . The Galaxy Z Fold2 battery has a capacity of 4,500mAh and it supports 25W fast charging and 11W wireless charging. There is a fingerprint sensor on the side similar to its predecessor for biometrics security.
This year's Galaxy Z Fold2 comes in two color options: Mystic Black and Mystic Bronze. Information about this foldable smartphone has not been revealed by Samsung much at this Unpacked event. Samsung said the company will host a new event exclusively for the Galaxy Z Fold2 on September 1. This is also the time when the user can begin to pre-order the device.
In addition, this year's Galaxy Z Fold2 will also have a Thom Browne version, in collaboration with the American designer to launch a Thom Browne fashion-focused edition with a similar design similar to the previous Galaxy Z Flip.
