Redmi is probably one of the most popular smartphone brands in India, especially in the budget and mid-range segments. Since it was first announced, Xiaomi's sub-brand has released a lot of great smartphones that offer high value for the money. Redmi, Redmi K, and Redmi Note are the two most popular series from the brand and have helped Xiaomi gain a solid standing in India's smartphone market. If you are looking for a smartphone under Rs. 20,000, you are going in the right direction. Here are the best phone of Redmi in 2020 in both budget and mid-range segments. In case you wonder, we won't include the Redmi K30 in this list since the handset was announced in India under the POCO brand called POCO X2.

Redmi Note 9 - best phone by Redmi under Rs. 15,000

On the front, the device sports a 6.53-inch IPS LCD panel, featuring a water-drop notch at the top, a 19.5:9 aspect ratio, Gorilla Glass 5, and FHD+ resolution. The device has a p2i nano-coating for water resistance. Under the hood, it draws power from an Helio G85 chipset, along with 4/6GB of LPDDR4x RAM. It also packs 64GB of eMMC 5.1 storage for both models and has a dedicated microSD card slot if users want to further expand the phone’s storage. 

The phone is pre-loaded with Android 10-based MIUI 11 to take care of the software side of things. For photography, it uses four cameras at the back and a single a 13MP camera on the front for selfies and video calls. The rear camera setup consists of a 48MP main sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera with a 118-degree viewing angle, a 2MP macro camera, and a 2MP portrait camera.

For security, you can unlock the phone using either Face Unlock feature or the rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. Other features of the Redmi phone includes 1216 linear speaker, headphone jack, 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth 5.0, IR Blaster, GPS, USB-C port, dual SIM slot, and Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n.

With the specs and features, I can easily say that the Redmi Note 9 is certainly the best phone by Redmi under Rs. 15,000 alongside the Redmi Note 9 Pro.

Redmi K20 Pro - the best phone of Redmi under Rs. 30,000

The phone was first announced back in July last year and personally, it is my favorite phone because of its full-screen design. It flaunts a 6.39-inch AMOLED panel with FHD+ resolution and an aspect ratio of 19.5:9. It is driven by a Snapdragon 855 chipset, coupled with up to 8GB RAM. Under the hood, it gets power from a 4,000 mAh battery, that supports 27W quick charging technology. Software-wise, it comes preloaded with Android 9.0 Pie but is now upgradable to EMUI 11, which is based on Android 10. 

Redmi K20 Pro is still one of the best phone by Redmi thanks to its powerful Snapdragon 855 SoC & pop-up selfie camera.

In terms of camera, it rocks a triple-camera cluster, comprising of a 48MP main sensor, a 13MP ultra-wide shooter, and an 8MP telephoto lens. On the front, there is a 20MP sensor placed in a pop-up module to take selfies and video calls.

The Redmi K20 Pro is available in two variants:

  • 6GB RAM + 128GB storage: Rs. 26,999
  • 8GB RAM + 256GB storage: Rs. 29,999

Redmi 8A Dual: best phone in Redmi under Rs. 8,000

The phone has a 6.22-inch HD+ display that features a water-drop notch at the top. The display is protected by a layer of Gorilla Glass 5. At its core, there is a Snapdragon 439 SoC, which is aided by 2/3GB of RAM and 32/64GB of storage. If you are not happy with the amount of storage, you can also expand it using a microSD card (up to 512GB). The phone also gets a new design called Aura XGrip and a P2i coating for splash resistance.

Redmi 8A Dual is an upgraded model of the Redmi 8A and currently the best phone of Redmi under Rs. 8,000.

In terms of camera, you can already tell by the Redmi 8A Dual name that it has a dual-camera setup on the rear, increasing from a single camera on its predecessor Redmi 8A. Powering the phone is a beefy 5,000 mAh battery that supports charging at an 18W rate via a USB-C port. However, you will have to buy an additional 18W charger, as it is only bundled with a 10W charger. Connectivity options include dual-SIM slots, 4G VoLTE connectivity, GPS, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi.

The Redmi 8A Dual price in India is Rs. 6,499 for the entry-level model with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. You can upgrade to the 3GB RAM / 32GB storage for a price of Rs. 6,999

Redmi G0: best phone of Redmi under Rs. 5,000

The Redmi Go will sport a 5-inch HD display with a resolution of 720p. The phone’s design is fully conventional and that means the handset will have an aspect ratio of 16:9. It will still come with bottom capacitive buttons and earpieces, proximity sensor and selfie sensor will still be located on the top of the phone. It will be powered by a quad-core Snapdragon SoC though the exact identity of the processor is not yet revealed, it is speculated in some previous leaks to be the Snapdragon 427 SoC. As it runs Android Go version of the Android Oreo, it should come packed with 1GB RAM and possibly 8GB storage that is expandable via microSD card up to 128GB.

Xiaomi Redmi Go is not as good as its siblings, but still a decent choice in the sub-Rs. 5,000 price range.

It runs on Android 8 Oreo (Go Edition), and that means the Xiaomi Redmi Go will come with Lite versions of some popular apps like YouTube Go, Google Assistant Go, Gmail, and more. All of these Lite apps are customized for the low-end hardware on smartphones like this Xiaomi Redmi Go.

In the camera department, it is confirmed to sport an 8MP camera on the rear with a single LED flash and also a 5MP front camera. It will be backed by a 3,000 mAh battery. The connectivity options of the phone include Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, micro-USB port, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS and 4G LTE.

The base variant with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage is priced at Rs. 4,499
