Today, many phone players are trying to introduce devices without notch and cutouts on the display. The smartphone market has witnessed many creative designs like pop-up selfie camera, and shark-fin selfie camera. Of which, ASUS Zenfone 6 (or also known as Asus 6Z in India) with its flip camera draws much attention in the mobile industry. If you are owning this phone, have you ever wondered what will happen in case you drop this phone and its camera is still working? The motor of the flipping camera drives into high gear when it feels a drop and then retracts the camera as fast as possible, so it’d be saved even during short falls. And if you don’t want to try it out on your device, you can search the test conducted by Zack on his YouTube channel JerryRigEverything on this phone.
After he pushed and pulled the flipping camera, twisted its hinge, tied stuff to it and banged it against the table, the camera of the Asus 6Z still worked as if there was nothing happening.
The camera of the handset is rated to last for 100 flips per day in 3 years. The remaining parts look durable since the phone’s all-metal design (even the camera setup is metal) passed the durability test with flying colors. Although the camera module performed well in the scratch test, its surrounding parts are very easy to scratch.
In addition, according to the video, the phone is said to be using Gorilla Glass 6 on its 6-inch screen, which scratches at level 6 with deeper groves at level 7. In the burn test, its LCD lasted about 8 seconds under the heat from the lighter before the pixels go black and turn off, but then fully recover, turning back on and looking like normal again after the heat’s removed.
Now let’s watch the video clip to see how tough the Asus 6Z's flipping camera is!
