AUS ROG Phone 3: Specifications & Features
In terms of design, ROG Phone 3 has a similar design to its predecessor ROG Phone II. Most of the leaks already revealed almost completely the appearance of the phone. On the front, ROG Phone 3 is equipped with a 6.6-inch screen, Full HD + resolution, 19.5: 9 ratio, and a 144Hz refresh rate. This screen is protected by Gorilla Glass 6 and integrates quite a lot of outstanding technologies such as 10bit HDR support, 650 nits brightness, 113% DCI-P3 color gamut, 270Hz touch sampling rate, and 25ms touch latency. Similar to Find X2 or OnePlus 8 Pro, the ROG Phone 3 has a screen that can display up to 1 billion colors. This is the most valuable upgrade on the screen of the ROG Phone 3.
In terms of configuration, ROG Phone 3 is equipped with the most powerful Snapdragon 865+ chip. This is the 3rd smartphone equipped with this chip, Lenovo Legion Duel and Galaxy Z Flip 5G, both of which launched right before the ROG Phone 3. The handset is available in multiple variants with 8 / 12 / 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 128 / 256 / 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage. The battery comes with a capacity of 6000mAh and supports 30W fast charging. It runs on Android 10 with ZenUI interface running on top to take care of the software side of things.
Regarding cameras, this year's ROG Phone 3 is equipped with a cluster of three cameras on the back including a 64MP Sony IMX686 main sensor, a 13MP sensor with an ultra-wide lens, and a 5MP sensor with a macro lens. There is also a 24MP camera on the front for selfies and video calls.
Like its predecessor, ROG Phone 3 is also equipped with 2 USB-C ports, one at the bottom of the device and one on the side, allowing gamers to charge and play games at the same time in landscape mode. The USB-C port on the side also works with peripheral accessories such as a charging dock, headphones (ASUS has removed the 3.5mm jack on the ROG Phone 3) ...
Besides, being a gaming smartphone, ROG Phone 3 comes with the new AirTrigger 3 sensor system. With this sensor system, users can use two shoulder buttons at the corner of the machine. ASUS has upgraded the AirTrigger3 system with 4 positions (L1 / L2 - R1 / R2) and 5 different pressures depending on the settings of the game that the user plays.
As usual, ASUS will also launch a series of accessories to boost users’ gaming experience. Of course, we will have to buy separately at a relatively high price, including TwinView Dock 3, an accessory that turns ROG Phone 3 into a smartphone with 2 separate screens, or Professional Dock that breaks out several USB ports, allowing users to use a separate keyboard and mouse ...
