Young Chinese Billionaire & Yoozoo Games CEO Died Amid Poisoning Probe At 39

On the evening of December 25, Chinese video-game publisher Yoozoo Games announced that its founder, Chairman, and CEO Lin Qi passed away at the age of 39 without giving a specific cause. Yoozoo also said the company will continue operating and will find a successor for Lin.

Previously, on December 23, rumors on Chinese social media suggested that Chairman Lin Ky was hospitalized after reportedly being poisoned by a senior leader of the company. However, at 20:05 p.m on the same day, the company released a statement saying that its CEO experienced discomfort on the way home so he went to the hospital and his condition was “stable.”

According to the Shanghai Police, at about 5 pm on December 17, they received a report from a local hospital about a 39-year-old man with the last name of Lin allegedly being poisoned. Immediately upon receiving the news, the police conducted an investigation and have detained a suspect surnamed Xu. 

YOOZOO Games, established in 2009, currently owns many popular games in China. It is best known internationally for developing Game of Thrones: Winter Is Coming, which is a multi-platform game based on the popular HBO series, Game of Thrones. The founder of YOOZOO Games is Lin Qi, born in 1981. He graduated from Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications in 2004.

From January 2008 to April 2009, Lin Qi was a partner of Youyi Digital Advertising Co., Ltd. (Beijing). From May 2009 to now, he has held the position of Chairman and CEO of Shanghai YOOZOO Information Technology Co., Ltd. According to the Hurun China Rich List, Lin Qi had amassed a net worth of some $1 billion (around Rs. 7,358.76 crore).
