PUBG, or PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, is an online multiplayer battle royale game. The mobile version of this game is published by Tencent Holdings.
The PUBG is listed on the Game Addiction-prevention System
Tencent's addiction-prevention system include the limitation of time on the daily play for a player and it also can check the player's facial recognition-aided ID. This facial recognition system is already applied on Tencent's Honour of Kings game. The system will be in practice for its 9 other games at the end of 2018 and plan to add all other games for the next year.
In the “healthy gaming” system, kids less than 12 years old are only allowed to play the games, including PUBG, for a maximum of 1 hour per day. Children in range of 13 - 18 years old can play game up to 2 hours a day but unable to play at night.
The facial recognition checking system that already implemented in the Honour of Kings game is now implemented on the PUBG game. And will be applied to the other games soon.
The Chinese government does not let any new game debut since March. In an attempt to make Chinese authorities lose the regulations on the gaming field, Tencent has applied the Real Name Registration to their games, in order to minimize the gaming addiction among kids.
On Tencent's official account post, the company informed that it evenly performed the facial recognition-aided ID checks for new joiners in Beijing and Shenzhen in Sept. For October and November, this gaming company will check the existing gamers' identify details and will complete soon.
