On the April Fools' Day of 2004, Google started its first e-mail platform named Gmail. At that time, the current CEO of Google Sundar Pichai had already come to get an interview for a career at Google. He had never thought that one day Gmail would become a prominent service with one and a half billion active users in a month.
Fifteen years ago, Gmail was just considered as an April Fools’ joke. But now it’s becoming the backbone of the enterprise’s products line. As a free email service, Gmail gradually took down incumbents like Yahoo Mail, Hot Mail, and AOL Mail as well. Now it’s clear that Google gives us no joke about its own web-based system.

One year later the day Gmail released, Google introduced Google Maps. Doubtlessly, now it’s taking the top position of map service on the internet. The search giant also merged YouTube and Android into its business. Android now is dominating the smartphone market with nine out of ten smartphones shipped over the world. Little by little, YouTube was invading video-sharing service market and goes ahead of other similar platforms. Apart from those, Chrome has taken over Microsoft’s Internet Explorer to be the most popular browser. Each of those Google products has more than one billion users, regarding.
Bob O'Donnell from Technalysis Research said that Gmail had shown the other side of Google due to its success. That sort of thinking continues shaping the future way for Google. Now Google's projects are spreading from the self-driving car, smart cities, etc.. The company could pump out those project by a research lab, Google X. Meanwhile, the service is still developing.
