Apple has been giving Siri an update on shortcuts which can improve users' experience and compete with other competitors on the field like Google and Amazon.

At WWCD organized last year, Apple has announced some updates for Siri including Siri suggestions. The company says that thousands of apps are integrated with iOS 12 feature. This means that the smart assistant will get different kinds of third-party functionality.

Five new shortcuts have become available since yesterday. The most notable one is likely to be the shortcut for American Airlines. By asking, “Hey Siri, flight update,” you get receive information about your upcoming travel plans. To decide on what to share, the response utilizes location information like the gate number, travel time, and flight status.

There is a new shortcut for Caviar as well. Users are now able to check on their food status or reorder items. For examples, you can command Siri to “order my usual pizza.”

Merriam-Webster, the famous dictionary, has a shortcut called “word of the day.” With Dexcom’s shortcut, the smart assistant can help users with the glucose monitoring.

Besides these mentioned shortcuts, there are other ones as well.

In the next few months, more shortcuts will be added including those from coffee-maker Smarter, ReSound, Drop, and Airbnb. The most recent additions are from Nike Run Club and Waze. It’s clear that Apple sees all these new features like an efficient way to boost the functionality of Siri with the tough competition from Amazon and Google.
