That ads are being blocked and users’ privacy is being protected is getting more popular and is becoming a competition among different browsers.

That intrusive advertisement will be blocked from the browser of Microsoft’s Edge is a new sign in which there is a competition amongst browsers where the website’s quality is being improved to be better for users even though businesses may not like this idea. It can be seen as an important development for the new Microsoft’s Edge based on Chromium, which are based on Google’s technology of open-source browsers.
Microsoft Edge
Edge project's manager– Kyle Pflug said in “ask me anything” on Reddit that:

Those mentioned guidelines prevent too distracting or intrusive advertisements, however, it does not talk anything related to ads’ separate cost, tracking tech which is able to carry out an invasion of privacy.
The Edge’s moves are very similar to the approach to block advertisement which was begun in 2018 by Google Chrome. However, Microsoft’s Edge will take a step further in which an Edge privacy control was previewed to be able to block publishers and advertisers from tracking you. There will be three levels in this tracking restriction including strict, balanced and unrestricted.
There are no longer days in which browsers will do anything that web programmers asked them to do. Increasingly, they are blocking advertisements, ads trackers, and sneaky website code that mine cryptocurrency or shady stuffs.

Nowadays, that can be successful with better personal privacy and faster web loading, and browsers are beginning to have a competition ont these features. It is getting more popular even though free websites with ads might not support this idea.
Step further in tracker and ad blocking
Today, all trackers and ads are blocked by default by The Brave browsers, and tracker blocking is also just enabled with the same way in Firefox by Mozilla, and Safari is catching up with Intelligent Tracking Prevention approach. Also, some measures have been taken by Chrome to limit the cookies used to track users online.
The Brave Browser
However, it is said that Microsoft’s Edge will not develop as Brave in ads blocking, at least like the current plan.
Kyle said:

The request for comment wasn’t responded immediately by Microsoft.
A numerous number of users, like millions, have also blocked trackers and ads using extensions plugged into their browsers. Though, Google is in the middle of a controversial issue with their attempt in reining in extensions because this technology damages content blocking too.
Should we follow Chrome’s decisions of extensions?
Many people asked in the AMA if Microsoft would choose to follow the example of Chrome in restricting advertisement clockers. While Microsoft is considering the options, Vivaldi, Opera and Brave have stated not to implement Google’s changes.
Kyle Pflug stated:

Ads have been very helpful to ad-supported and free websites which are not likely to develop as far or fast in case they have had payments or subscriptions requirement. However, advertising also has downsides, especially the invasion of privacy from some companies which want to track users’ behaviors in order to target advertisements towards their profiles or interests.

Pocket: Save. Read. Grow
Browsers have already known about the results when they cut off advertisements. The Brave is making an attempt in building a privacy-respecting and an alternative system showing advertisements as notification when users are in the system. Also, Mozilla has had advertisement revenue from Pocket – the service of bookmarking.
