ISRO To Launch EMISAT To Detect Enemy Radars And Communication Devices

India aims to build up its defense base buy inquiring new combat weapons to replace out of date ammunition. These operations have also been extended to electronic space arena.

On April 1, India will launch EMISAT, an electronic intelligence satellite for DRDO (short for the Defence Research Development Organisation), along with 28 foreign satellites. The satellite's role is enemy sensors and radars detection along the border.

According to ISRO (Indian Space Research Organization), its new Polar Satellite Launch Rocket will put the EMISAT that weights 436kg into a 749 km orbit. The satellite’s mission is said to be collecting imagery as well as communication intelligence.

It will identify enemy areas’ topography and figure out the number of active communication devices in the area. With this satellite, India can keep track of hostile nations.

The security agencies have used aerostats, balloons, and drones to surveil enemies. But these methods all have their limitations. For example, helium gas in balloons can be used up, drones can only last for a few hours, and satellites are not stable.

Meanwhile, advanced electronic satellites are more static and can even decode two communication devices’ conversation.

Back on January 24, DRDO had successfully launched Microsat-R which was capable of taking images during night time.

A source at ISRO said:

Other foreign satellites launching along with the Indian satellite include two from Lithuania, one from Spain, one from Switzerland, and 24 from the U.S.

K.Siva, chairman of ISROm had earlier said that this mission will be a special one:

Sometime in July or August, the ISRO will be carrying out the launching of two more defense satellites with its new Small Satellite Launch Vehicle.
