Global Aviation Summit: India Has Focused On Developing Both Auto-Rickshaws And Air Rickshaws
Jyotis - Jan 21, 2019
"We are poised to grow from auto-rickshaws to air rickshaws. That is how we will enable #FlyingForAll.” The Minister said.
This was the first time ministries and leaders came to Global Aviation Summit to discuss the growth chances in passengers, as well as cargo traffic. The conference took place in Mumbai.

As per the aviation sector, India features the fastest growth in the whole world, and ranks the third position in the list of the top domestic airline economy, after China and the US.
The Ministry of Civil Aviation said that airline passenger traffic has sharply increased during the recent four years. The number may be beyond 100 Crores trips in the next 21 years. From the year 2015 to the year 2019, the number of trips has increased by 12.5 crores to 22.5 crores, twice as many as that of the previous period. Operational airports have hit 100 from 70, while airplanes have grown to 700 from 400.

Government data also indicated that both volume and the affordability of flights have shown the satisfactory results.

For those unknown, the Ministry of Civil Aviation of the Indian Government and FICCI chose #FlyingForAll as a theme for the summit that lasts two days. Besides, the summit will reveal policies relating to first air cargo as stipulated by the government.
Suresh Prabhu, the Minister of the Union Civil Aviation, said that the government has planned to turn Nagpur, Maharashtra’s city into a primary logistics and cargo hub. Nagpur is now the city to link with all the metro across India. Besides, a lot of airline infrastructure firms have established skilling and manufacturing facilities in this city.

While Nagpur has become outstanding in the industry of domestic civil aviation, Maharashtra still belongs to the top contributors' list of this sector. The state accounts for 28% of the total air cargo shipment in the country. The government is planning to construct 3 or 4 airports with the new high connection. This aims to increase the percentage by 12%, to 40% next year (2020). The information came from Devendra Fadnavis, the Chief Minister.
In addition, aerospace and defense industries will have more “spaces” in Nagpur.
