Mark Zuckerberg Says Facebook Will Soon Launch WhatsApp Pay In India

Realizing the potentials of digital payments in the Indian market, Facebook is planning to launch WhatsApp Pay in the upcoming time. On April 24, Mark Zuckerberg had a talk with analysts via an earnings call. He stated that the big tech company is aiming at the global market by developing Payments.
According to the Facebook CEO,
In 2018, WhatsApp Pay Beta version was launched with about 10 lakhs users; however, the app at that time couldn’t meet the vast demand of the local data storage in India.
Zuckerberg further said,
The number of Facebook active users per day in 2019 hit 156 crores, increasing by 8% over that of last year. The growth mainly hailed from the Philippines, Indonesia, and India. This number is equivalent to about 66% of 23800 lakhs active users per month in March 2019.
The Facebook CEO said that privacy would be the most promising area in social networking’s future. He said,
Accordingly, the digital town squares such as Instagram and Facebook will always take an important role as well as keep growing impressively. Zuckerberg added,
As such, the platform that focuses much on privacy will be developed based on private interactions. According to the Facebook CEO,
In addition, Facebook confirmed the company wouldn’t keep sensitive data stored in some countries, in which governments or hackers could access this kind of data without users’ consent.
