Apple has just launched watchOS 5.3.2 just for Apple Watch Series 4. The update is designed for those who do not possess an iPhone that can run iOS 13, thus cannot update the watch to watchOS 6.

Before the watchOS 5.3.2 was released, it is mandatory for users to have a phone capable of running iOS 13 if they want the latest upgrade for the software of the Apple Watch. iPhone 6 and 5s still support the watch but the two phones are no longer legible to update to iOS 13 this year.

This leaves a small number of users, who have Apple Watch Series 4 and iPhone 6 or 5s, unable to update to watchOS 6. They cannot have iOS 13 so their smartwatch cannot be updated to the latest software version from Apple. However, this number is very small.

The watchOS 6 brings some security improvements for the Apple Watch and those who do not have a compatible phone cannot enjoy the benefits. That is why Apple has to make watchOS 5.3.2 for these users.

Before the Apple Watch Series 4, watchOS 5.3.2 was introduced for the Apple Watch Series 1, Series 2, and Series 3 in September, with several security enhancements.

The updates contain bug fixes and performance improvements, as well as compatibility maintaining. Apple has also released a security content listing for updates on its website. It also has a patch for an exploit found by Google Project Zero, a team of security analysts hired by Google to identify zero-day vulnerabilities, which allows attackers to execute code and crash apps to steal user’s data.

In response to the flaw Google Project Zero pointed out, Apple said that the bug was complicated but only had a narrow scope, including a few websites.
