In 2018, when Apple first launched its Apple Watch Series 4 in India, consumers didn’t get to access all of its available features.
Since Apple didn’t receive approval from the government, the Apple Watch Series 4 reached the hands of the customers without the ECG feature. However, it seems like the Indian government has now lifted the barrier.
The new watchOS 6 allows users to use the ECG feature in India. The ECG app, as well as notifications for irregular heart rhythm help, identify AFib’s signs. AFib or atrial fibrillation is the irregular rhythm’s most common form.

When being ignored, AFib can lead to life-threatening conditions such as stroke. Globally, it still ranks 2nd on the list of causes of death.
The irregular rhythm notification feature on watchOS 6 occasionally checks the heart rhythm of the user in the background for any irregular heart rhythm using the optical heart sensor. If on five rhythm checks in 65 minutes, it detects AFib-like symptoms, the user will be alerted with a notification.
Chief Operating Officer at Apple, Jeff Williams said,

Early this month, the newest addition to the lineup of Apple Watch, the Series 5 was launched alongside the new iPhones. The new Series 5 has the same hardware as the Series 4. However, it has an Always-on display as well as newer materials including steel, titanium and with the return of ceramic. There is a wide range of color options for customers to choose from. On the non-LTE version, the watch has a built-in GPS.
The GPS variant has a starting price of Rs 40,900. Meanwhile, the GPS + Cellular variant has a starting price of Rs 49,900. The Series 5 is expected to hit the market by September 27.
