Apple Is Working On A Smart Band For Its Apple Watch

The smart band lets users check for training progress without waking up the Apple Watch

Apple is working on new tech to add more functions to the Apple Watch bands. The company has submitted a patent file for the design of a smart band that can provide its users with data like their training progress.

From what the patent tells us, this band may work with the watch itself. The Apple Watch sensor will collect the needed information and then feed them to the band to be displayed. The idea of a smart band is not new to Apple though. The company filed for a similar design in 2015, so this new patent does not mean we have a whole new idea to wait for, but rather telling us that Apple has not abandoned it yet. This is a piece of good news so far, considering the long list of Apple’s products that never make it to reality.

The patent also contains some images giving us a general idea of what we may expect. According to them, the band would have indicators and show goals like “Stand,” “Move,” and “Exercise.” One of the perks of this idea is that users can see what they regularly check on the band, so they do not have to turn the Apple Watch on, thus saving the battery power. Apple seems to be serious about developing the watchband, which might be a piece of bad news for any third-party producers.

In general, all we have now is a patent and nothing more on whether Apple can release its smart band; so there is nothing credible about this just yet. September might see the debut of a new Apple Watch and updates on the iPhones. The company also has some other creations we know about, one of them is a 3D Touch table. Apple might focus more on squeezing tech into the packaging of its devices.
