Apple recently announced that its second generation of iPhone SE is now being assembled in India to cater to the local market.
In a statement made public on The Times of India, Apple shared that iPhone SE was powered by its powerful chip, had its most popular size, and came at the most budget-friendly price.
The report reveals that the smartphones are being assembled by Wistron at a Bengaluru-based facility. iPhone 7 is also assembled by Wistron in India, so did iPhone 6s and the original iPhone SE.
It came out last week that the company might assemble the upcoming iPhone 12 in India, starting next year.
Foxconn, Apple’s largest partner, has also made public its attempt to enlarge Indian assembling operations, where iPhone XR and iPhone 11 are being manufactured.
As a result of the ongoing trade war between the US and China, the number of Apple’s partners moving out of the East Asian country for nations like Vietnam and India is growing, with Wistron and Foxconn among them.
It is believed that Foxconn plans to pour $1 billion to expand its facilities in India. The company also said China’s era of being the world’s factory was over.
According to Reuters, Foxconn and Pegatron are having their eyes on Mexico as another venue for iPhone manufacture.
