Rumor has it that iPhone 12 is this year’s cheapest iOS handsets. However, a recent leak suggests Apple could release a new version with a more budget-friendly price than we expect.
A leak released by Jon Prosser reveals the 5.4-inch iPhone 12 will be sold at $649 (around Rs. 49,035), $50 cheaper than the iPhone 11. The variant with a screen measures 6.1 inches is rumored to have a price tag of $699 (about Rs. 52,832). Both versions are expected to support 5G.
A tweet of Omega Leaks suggests iPhone 12 4G, if Apple does have that offer, might come as the price of $549 (about Rs. 41,494) and the iPhone 12 Max 4H would set users back $649 (about Rs. 49,053).
Last week, Wedbrush Securities’ Daniel Ives also said Apple might launch a more affordable version of the iPhone 12 with a screen of 5.4 inches, which packs all the features of iPhone 12 without 5G support.
iPhone 12 and 12 Max are rumored to have a dual camera setup on the rear with the iPhone 12 Pro getting three with an optical zoom lens, a telephoto lens and a LiDAR sensor to help with augmented reality.
What most users are wondering now is whether it’s possible for Apple to launch both 4G and 5G versions of iPhone 12. Given the effort the company has to put into customize a phone to support 5G, it is highly unlikely the iPhone maker will release two versions for iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Max.
If it is true that Apple is aiming at the price range of around $549 (approximately Rs. 41,494), OnePlus with its upcoming OnePlus Z and OnePlus Nord, and other phone manufacturers will have to be in high alert.
