In response to this report, Amazon has contacted The Wall Street Journal saying that it had not done anything to prioritize profitability.

Those who have shared this information said that they had no idea how the change would impact sales. However, AmazonBasics, a private brand of the company, has asked for improved listings.

This report came out while lawmakers in the U.S are considering changing the antitrust laws, especially when it comes to tech companies.

This tweak in Amazon’s search system was uncovered just a week after Apple announced that it had fix the algorithms of its Apple App Store.

This alteration followed an accusation made by the New York Times that Apple unfairly ranked its own apps higher than those of competitors. In one case, users have to scroll past 14 made-by-Apple apps to find something from a third-party developer.
