It may come at a surprise that four out of ten people who own a smart TV want to listen to music on the device. This might be the reason why Amazon launched a music app for Apple TV.
Starting yesterday, users can save the Amazon Music app from the App Store for Apple TV HD and Apple TV 4K that are powered by tvOS 12.0 and later. Apart from India, the service is also available in United Kingdom, Canada, Germany, Australia, New Zealand, Mexico, Spain, United States, France, Italy, Japan, and Brazil.
Users who wish to use the service need to have an Amazon Music Unlimited or Prime Music account to stream.
Once you have had the app, the next step is to activate the Apple TV so that it is a recognized device. When you launch the app, it will show a pairing code consisting of six letters. On another device, head to https://amazon.com/code, type in the code and you are all set.
With the Amazon Music app, you will have access to millions of albums, songs, playlists, and artists. Users can also play what is in their My Music library.
Those who subscribed to Amazon Music HD will not be able to have the CD and hi-resolution version since Apple TV app has support for neither of them.
The collaboration of Apple TV and Amazon Music is a bit weird given that you do have Alexa. Apple has started to offer Siri to third-party apps like Spotify but only for iPads and iPhones for now.
Many people project that in the future, we can use Siri for Amazon Music playback with Apple TV. For now, it appears that all Amazon wants is to bring its service to more devices. In a press release, Karolina Joynathsing, Amazon Music's director of business, said that the company believed that all listeners have the right to be able to stream on any devices they choose.
