How To Choose Between iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, And iPhone 11 Pro Max

If size matters to you, iPhone 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max are the two better options. They also have more higher-end features than the iPhone 11

Apple has just released three latest iPhones and as happens almost every year for Apple fans or people who are thinking of an upgrade, which one should they get?

The good news here is, this year, Apple has tweaked its naming scheme a bit to make it easier for users to tell the three models apart. The successor of last year’s budget-friendly, but popular iPhone XR is iPhone 11. Taking the places of iPhone XS and XS Max are iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max respectively.

The good news here is this year, Apple has tweaked its naming scheme a bit to make it easier for users to tell the three models apart

However, it does not mean choosing one of these new phones gets easier this year.

What excites people most in this year’s releases is the triple-camera setup, consisting of a 12-megapixel 52mm f/2.0 telephoto camera, a 12-megapixel, 13mm f/2.4 ultra-wide camera, and a 12-megapixel, 26mm f/1.8 wide-angle camera, on the back of the iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max.

According to Apple, these cameras, housed in a square module, will be handy tools for those who want to take high-end and precise photos. Several apps will also be released to take full advantage of the triple-camera setup. One of them is Deep Fusion that analyzes nine photos to come up with the best one.

With the ultra-wide camera, users can add more of the surroundings to photos. When looking at the viewfinder, users can see both what the main and the ultra-wide snapper can capture.

The other two cameras are a normal 12-megapixel wide-angle camera and a 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera. Some other improvements are the Night Mode, which makes use of the wide-angle sensor to shoot in low light. That, coupled with the better video stabilization and the ability to shoot 4K videos, will please most of the casual users.

However, if you are a professional that wants the best tech possible on an iPhone, the best choices are the iPhone Pro and Pro Max.

If Size Matters, Go For The iPhone Pro Max

Just like what we have last year with the iPhone XS and XS Max, iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max’s OLED displays have the sizes of 5.8 inches and 6.5 inches respectively, while the iPhone 11’s screen measures 6.1 inches. So if you want the largest screen possible, iPhone 11 Pro Max is the obvious champion.

However, this screen size also comes with another disadvantage. Since this year, Apple has decided to sacrifice part of the thinness to improve the battery life; you will notice an increase in the weight of iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max to 188 grams and 226 grams respectively. There is no change in how heavy the iPhone 11 is, as this year, it has the same weight as last year’s iPhone XR.

What Do These Three Phones Have In Common?

All of these three phones share some common features:

They have the same processor, the A13 Bionic chip, Apple’s fastest and latest chip.

Their battery life has all been improved. According to the company, iPhone 11 can last all day and an hour longer than that of iPhone XR. In comparison with that of iPhone XS, iPhone 11 Pro offers four more hours. And with iPhone 11 Pro Max, the battery life is bumped up by five hours.

Users will have 64GB with their base models. For more storage, you can opt for the 128GB and 256GB configurations of the iPhone 11. For the two other phones, users can have either 256GB or 512GB.

The three phones all have the U1 chip developed by Apple that gives them the location-tracking feature.

iPhone 11, 11 Pro, and 11 Pro Max all come in a wide variety of colors. While the color may not be the deciding feature many users will take into consideration when picking one out of these three phones, it is always nice to have more options available. Users have the choice to acquire iPhone 11 in six different colors, including purple and light green. The options for the two Pro models are two colors short compared to those of the iPhone XR’s successor, but you will have something called Midnight Green.

What Features Only The Pro Phones Have?

The iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max pack several higher-end features to justify their price:

The Pro phones feature stainless steel and textured matte glass while the non-Pro variant does not have the latter and is made out of aluminum.

The iPhone 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max sport the Super Retina OLED displays of Apple while the iPhone 11 only has the Liquid Retina LCD display.

If you want the fast charging feature without paying for it separately, the better choices are the two Pro variants with USB-C to Lightning cable and a USB-C 18W wall charger.

When it comes to durability, the Pro iPhones also have the edge over the iPhone XR’s successor. The 11 Pro can survive under the water for half an hour while the 11 Pro Max can handle two meters of water for 30 minutes.

Do You Really Need An Upgrade?

This is the question no one can answer right now, so you might need to wait until we have the chance to spend more time with the three models to find out.

Here is the price. In India, iPhone 11 will have the starting price of Rs. 64,900, the iPhone 11 Pro will set you back Rs. 99,900, while the iPhone 11 Pro Max will be priced at Rs. 109,900.

With the new releases, Apple still offers some of its older models for those who do not care much about having the latest tech on their phones. iPhone 8 in India is now Rs. 39,900 and the iPhone XR’s price is Rs. 54,900.

If price is not a concern and you are willing to pay for the latest features, the most obvious choice is iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max. Otherwise, the deciding factors will be the size and display.
