Xiaomi has recently made it possible for users to trade in their old Redmi and Xiaomi phones for newer models while getting up to 70% of their value back

Xiaomi has recently made it possible for users to trade in their old Redmi and Xiaomi phones for newer models while getting up to 70% of their value back.

Under the newly launched Mi Smart Upgrade scheme, the company introduced various buyback plans, which start at Rs. 399. They come with fixed buyback values when users upgrade their handsets after three to 15 months.

The redemption periods will determine the buyback value you will have with your Xiaomi and Redmi phones. For example, if you trade in your Mi 10 phone for an upgraded device after 91 to 180 days of buying it, you are subjected to 70% of the retail price as the buyback value.

If you exchange your Xiaomi phone after 13 to 15 months, the lowest buyback value you will get is 40% of the retail price. Here is the full list of redemption periods and their accordance buyback value:

However, not every Xiaomi or Redmi smartphones are eligible for the trade-in program. The models fall under the plans are the Redmi Note 9 lineup, Redmi 9 lineup, Mi 10 family, and Redmi K20 Pro. Here are the prices for upgrade plans:

Mi Smart Upgrade scheme works similarly to the Galaxy Assured buyback program of Samsung. The biggest difference is that Samsung only makes flagship phones available for the program while the Chinese company extended to some budget-friendly models.
