Windows 7 Monthly Updates May Cause Your PCs To Freeze

Last month, the update of Windows 7 did lead to some antivirus problems for their users. The latest updated version of Windows this month does not seems to solve this problem and even cause new issues for antivirus products like McAfee and Sophos.

After the May 14 monthly rollup, Sophos - a UK security firm - has reported a series of problems - the KB4499164 and the KB4499175 update - happened right after the installment. Sophos then made a request to Microsoft to resolve the problems that occurred because of the two latest updates from the company. However, the issues haven’t been listed as a known issue by the Windows maker.

On the other hand, in the case of McAfee, Microsoft has publicly confirmed that the rollup in April and May did cause startup problems to the products of this antivirus company. The list of McAfee products that are affected by the monthly rollup includes McAfee Endpoint Security (ENS) Threat Prevention 10.x, McAfee Host Intrusion Prevention (Host IPS) 8.0, and McAfee VirusScan Enterprise (VSE) 8.8.

Moreover, Microsoft also resolved an issue that prevented Internet Explorer and Microsoft Edge to access to some websites of the UK government. This problem happened after Microsoft provided support to those browsers for HSTS (short for HTTP Strict Transport Security).  

According to a report from Askwoody.com, some essential local gov.uk sites, including those for paying vehicle taxes, processing passports, or driving licenses, have been HTTPS for years; however, many local government websites have not yet got it.
