Only a few hours after Tesla introduced the Model Y to the whole world, the company started to ask for the support from its workers to ship cars to waiting for customers before the first quarter of 2019 ends.

On March 15, Sanjay Shah wrote an email to other department managers to call for volunteers to take part in delivering 30,000 cars in the remaining days of March. Business Insider also received a copy of this email.
When filing the annual report in December 2018, Tesla revealed that producing vehicles would hopefully “increase sequentially” in the first three months of 2019. However, the shipment in North America is not probably as high as that of the fourth quarter of 2018. The reasons behind it are the company are expanding its consumer market to new areas including China and Europe. Considering the last three months of 2018, the total number of EV cars shipped by Tesla reached up to 90,966.
Its representative refused to make any comment on the story; however, he repeated that employees wouldn’t be compulsory to participate in the delivery of this time.

This is not the first time Tesla has began the vehicle delivering campaign after completing the production. In September 2018, Elon Musk shared that his company was moving to “logistics hell” from “production hell.” At that time, employees had to conduct a series of duties to ship cars to its customers.
The worker also revealed that Tesla employees who worked at many different departments of the company kept contributing to Tesla’s success in the last three months of 2018.
As per Tesla, it doesn’t deny its attempts on delivering cars. Two months ago, in January 2019, the company bought a company that has the car-hauling truck capacity as a move to deal with the issue.
