Tesla might launch its “Reverse Summon” soon. With this feature, Tesla cars can find its own parking spot after dropping the owner off.

We have heard of “Smart Summon,” a function allowing users to call the car to get to their position without finding it themselves. Carmakers call the act summoning. So owners of Tesla cars can summon the car from the parking lot.

Smart Summon works well but many users report that it was not so useful. Instead, they suggested, Tesla could develop a “Reverse Smart Summon,” which means the car can drop off the driver and then go find its own parking spot.

Elon Musk, Tesla CEO, said that the said feature could soon be deployed along with a core rewrite of code that is believed to enhance the speed of improvement of the Autopilot feature.

Here is what Elon Musk responded when he was asked whether we would see a reverse summon feature:

Recently, it is reported that Tesla was undergoing a massive rewrite of Tesla Autopilot. One of the expected new features that users can expect is a more in-depth labeling system.

According to Musk, the 3D labeling system would be a game-changer:

A prime example of the change is that the car could better understand the scene it “sees” and could find the parking lot.

While many do not think Smart Summon is something too useful, there are some interesting use cases, like when users are on wheelchairs and they can call the car to come to them.

Unlike Smart Summon, Reverse Smart Summon is believed to be a real hit. For example, you can have the car dropped you off at the entrance of a mall and then you go on with your errands of the day while the Tesla car finds packing spot for its own.
