Microsoft and Samsung said that they have worked with each other to bring about features to help the Note 10 handsets work with computers more easily. The phone will come with built-in Your Phone app from Microsoft, which allows syncing text messages between a smartphone and a PC running Windows. According to the Korean giant, later this year, users will be able to take and make calls on the computer.

Furthermore, Samsung phone users can store their photos on Microsoft OneDrive. And the Note 10 will have Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

Satya Nadella, Microsoft CEO, at the Unpacked event this Wednesday, said that:

The partnership is getting more and more necessary too.

In the race between Samsung and Apple, the iPhone maker has always surpassed the Korean company in terms of software. It has the handoff tech which allows users to start a mail on the iPad while finishing it on the Mac. Apple also provides iPhone and Mac users with free iWork, including Keynote presentation software, Numbers spreadsheet app, and Pages word processor. Plus, iCloud Photo Library service of Apple is probably the strongest rival to Google Photos.

Working with Microsoft can help Samsung narrow this gap.

Microsoft may also get benefit from integrating its services directly into Samsung phones. As Sag said, the integration would make the Note a true productivity product.

Microsoft will even sell the Galaxy Note 10 in its own store.
