Rockstar Games Has Just Acquired The Oldest Game Studio In India For Rs 55 Crore

From now on, along with around 500 other developers, Dhruva Interactive will take a role as a team of the Rockstar India in Bangalore.
Rockstar Games must be a familiar name with any gamers of ‘Red Dead Redemption’ or ‘Grand Theft Auto’ in the global video game industry. According to a confidential source, the US video game publisher has planned to invest in the Indian market.
More particularly, it has just acquired one of the oldest game studio in India – Dhruva Interactive. Based in Bangalore, the Indian video game developer officially belongs to Rockstar Games in December 2018; however, both the companies have recently revealed the news.
In 1997, Rajesh Rao founded Dhruva Interactive as the first game studio in India. Reports show that the founder will support Rockstar Games during the transition process and keep giving necessary advice for the US company to develop sustainably among the game development community in India.
At the moment, the total number of Dhruva Interactive’s employees is around 300 (including game art designers and developers). Over 20 years ago, the company started up a business by offering code to the game rendering engine on Intel’s Pentium II. In the next period, they have contributed to developing many famous games such as ‘Prey’, the Forza series, and ‘Days Gone’. In addition, they also produced some original games on their own.
According to the announcement from both companies, Dhruva Interactive will keep tackling their current projects. However, from now on, along with around 500 other developers, they will take a role as a team of the Rockstar India in Bangalore.
