Ahead of several data exposures and information leaks from social media platforms, users are getting more worried about their privacy on the Internet. To eliminate the risk as much as we can do, a privacy assistant app called Jumbo has been released for smartphone users. In the very first stage of rolling out, the app is available to be set up on iOS devices but Android users have to wait for their own version in the coming months.
The app is built to help users prevent threats from falling prey to the privacy manoeuver of social media behemoths. It comes with the capability to automatically modify 30 privacy settings on Facebook, delete old tweets after saving them on the phone, remove private searching data from Google Search history and voice recordings from Amazon Alexa. In addition, Jumbo is said to integrate apps like Instagram and Tinder soon.
Jumbo is built by a team of 6 people. According to Pierre Valade, CEO of Jumbo, now users can make their complex issue of privacy by simply tapping a button in the app. Valade also confirms that they never collect, store or use customers’ data for commercial purposes through Jumbo.
Unlike other internet services, Jumbo doesn’t have any server-side storage or processing of your data. It just cleans anything you want it to clean. All your data never leaves your iPhone, and is never stored or processed in a remote server (of course, except the server of the original service, like Facebook’s servers).
Meanwhile, it’s hard to say tech giants like Facebook, Google or Twitter will let Jumbo fulfill its idealism duty. Most of them are using a massive data source from users to earn money and dozens of other purposes. However, Pierre Valade is expecting the app to gain 0people’s support as much as it can.
