Tinder now allows users to enter their sexual orientation, and it will match people with similar identities as a priority. There is a total of nine options, and users can pick up to three of them, including bisexual, straight, lesbian, pansexual, gay, asexual, queer, demisexual, and questioning. Plus, you will have the choice to make these choices public on Tinder or not.
For those who have already signed up for the app, they will have to go back to their profile to edit and add more information. Tap “I Am,” and then “More.” Now you can type in a word to describe your sexual orientation. New users will be encouraged to do so in the process.
If you want to see people with the same orientations first, you can set the discovery preferences. This function will be in India, Canada, UK, Australia, New Zealand, and Ireland this month.
Tinder has always let users choose whether they want to connect with men, women, or both. However, it was not until now that users can specify their sexual identity. The app has not yet let anyone define their pronoun, but this is a nice addition allowing people to see others based on their orientation.

Tinder started as an app for people who are only attracted to the opposite sex, but recent years have seen the company working hard to include more users. The company revealed that the decision stemmed from feedback from people on its platform as well as an internal survey.
Here is what it found out: among 1,000 people participated in the survey, more than half of them said that they would like to use a platform that let them freely show their orientations.
This is just one step Tinder takes to make its platform more inclusive. It has taken the opinion and expertise of consultants, transgender, and gender non-conforming users.
Some of the people who have taken part in this enhancement are Andrea James, a transgender filmmaker and advocate, Alex Schmider and Nick Adams of GLAAD’s Transgender Media Program. Tinder also announced its commitment and that it was open for feedback to make the app a better place for everyone.
