A data protection watchdog in Finland called Reijo Aarnio revealed he has investigated if Nokia smartphones have violated data rules as pointed out in a recent report saying that the units sent data to Chinese servers.
According to HMD Global, a Finnish company which owns exclusive rights to sell Nokia mobile phones via a licensing agreement, personal data of Nokia users hasn’t been shared with any third party; however, it didn’t deny that a data software issue was already detected, and then fixed on a batch of units.
As per Nokia, the renowned brand which didn’t invest directly into HMD said nothing about the issue.
Also in recent times, the US accused Nokia's network business rivalry - Huawei from China - of posing espionage risks; however, the tech giant denied all of these accusations.
The first time NRK discovered the data breach was when a user owning a Nokia 7 Plus said that his mobile phone often connected with a server to send unencrypted data packages. As per HMD, the company still kept a secret of the owner of the server.
