Windows 7 users are about to get full-screen notifications from Microsoft that their OS is outdated.
Earlier this week, the tech giant said that starting January 15, users of Windows 7 will see a full-screen notification describing the risk of keeping using the operating system Service Pack 1. Extension for security updates will end the day before that, so Microsoft is about to scream at users about this if they fail to update before that date.

ZDNet reported that the company has been sending warnings to users of this OS of the upcoming security changes for the better part of the year through pop-ups. However, the tech giant said that those notifications will keep popping up until users do something about it. Nice!
Windows 7 security support began ten years ago in 2009 when the operating system was first released. The firm argues that users’ computers will become more vulnerable to viruses and malware if they don’t have such support.
At the time, Microsoft said that when the decade-long period comes to an end, it will stop supporting Windows 7 so that it can focus its investment on support for newer techs as well as great new experiences. After that, the firm added, users of this OS will no longer get software updates or technical assistance from Windows Update that protects their PCs. The tech giant strongly recommends that users upgrade to Windows 10 before January 2020 so they can continue to get support and service from the company.
If you’re still using Windows 7, if you haven’t had the intention to upgrade yet, think again because Microsoft is doing everything to make you.
