Jio Gains 9.3 Million New Subscriptions, Vodafone Loses 3.5 Million

Reliance Jio was noted as the most prominent gainer in term of new subscribers, according to a recent Telecom Regulatory Authority of India's (TRAI) report.

In India, several telecom operators are trying to gain new customers as much as they can. A familiar strategy has been conducted by attractive low-cost price plans and various additional offers as well. Reliance Jio is said to be an aggressive competitor in the telecom industry by providing the most affordable price to keep the customers' happiness in order to gain the number of them. Reliance Jio was noted as the most prominent gainer in terms of new users, according to a recent Telecom Regulatory Authority of India's (TRAI) report.

As reported by TRAI, Reliance Jio achieved the largest number of new subscribers in January amongst all telecom providers listed. The number of subscribers has increased by 9.3 million units and stand at the top of the chart. In the same period, BSNL which a government-led corporation was the runner-up with 9,80,000 additional subscribers. The third place was tied by Bharti Aitel with new customers number of 1,03,389.

On the other hand, Vodafone Idea and Tata Teleservices faced up to the contrary. In the month of January 2019, Tata Teleservices has seen its customers leaving, which was counted about 8,47,925 customers. Vodafone Idea even lost 3.5 million customers and was listed at the bottom of the ranking.

However, when we mention the term of market share, the ranks are shuffled. Vodafone Idea market share has reported as 35.12 percent. Airtel and Reliance Jio come in second and third with the overall share of nearly 30 percent and 24,4 percent respectively. BSNL retains a 9.76 percent market share while Tata only owns 1,54 percent.

BSNL has been following all the moves which described as an aggressive approach. Both postpaid and prepaid customers will take additional benefits from the associating plans of BSNL. The move seems to be the same as its rivals.
