Students could program Root to scan colors, draw, respond to different sound and touch, do music and more.

Similar to Roomba, this Root robot is a mobile device that has two-wheels and able to operate on flat grounds. Students could program Root to scan colors, draw, respond to different sound and touch, do music and more.

In some classrooms, users can even program Root to climb up the magnetic whiteboards. The robot has 3 coding language levels. Its technology is based on the one from Harvard University's Wyss Institute. One Root robot costs $199, but they also offer classroom packages of $6,000 dollars for 30 robots.

With its line of Roomba products, the company is one of the first robot's makers that successfully introduce robots to our homes.

In a recent interview, iRobot does not think that Root's acquisition will impact the bottom line of them in 2019. However, the acquisition supports its plans to venture into the field of STEM educational products and also to make robot tech more accessible to parents, students, and educators. In its past years, the track record of iRobot has been solid.

With its line of Roomba products, the company is one of the first robot's makers that successfully introduce robots to our homes. If they can pull it off, Root might as well become a similar success in classrooms.
