IIT Guwahati Creates AI Chatbot To Teach And Support Students

The chatbot creates an AI chat window in a bid to help users find their own tutorial schedule, examination queries, as well as class schedules.

Postgraduate students at the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IIT Guwahati or IITG) partnered with other faculty members to develop an Artificial Intelligence (AI) chatbot that can provide support and knowledge relating to AI for EEE students of the year 2. They refer to the chatbot as “ALBELA”.

They call this AI-based chatbot "Albela".

The project has been under development for 7 months. In addition to these postgraduate students, its achievement also includes the contributions of seven research scholars who are working at the department.

According to Praveen Kumar, the Professor of Department of EEE at IIT Guwahati:

The chatbot creates an AI chat window in a bid to help users find their own tutorial schedule, examination queries, as well as class schedules. One of the most prominent advantages of this initiative is that students can study non-technical and technical subjects more proactively. In other words, they will no longer have to search for answers from their instructors like before. This system is especially suitable for those who often hesitate to ask.
