Facebook Reduces News Feed Distribution on Groups To Fight Fake News

The Facebook Groups have been punished by the social networking platform due to its spreading fake news. In spite of Facebook’s effort to struggle against misinformation, these Groups have reportedly shared it repeatedly. That’s why the company decided to reduce the distribution of Groups’ News Feed.
In addition, the Facebook Groups’ admins will have to take responsibility for letting the tool violate the Community Standards.
On April 10, the Facebook Vice President of Integrity shared his expression in a blog post, “When people in a group repeatedly share content that has been rated false by independent fact-checkers, we will reduce that group’s overall News Feed distribution. Starting today, globally.”
From this week, Facebook will review a Group and evaluate whether that Group should be taken down or not. Moreover, it will control the content management of moderators and admins more strictly, including how they let violated posts given by members approved on their group.

In the upcoming time, the Messenger service will be reportedly added the “Verified Badge”.
The company revealed, “This tool will help people avoid scammers that pretend to be high-profile people by providing a visible indicator of a verified account.”
