Thanks to several useful features, the user base of WhatsApp has exceeded more than 1.5 billion. The Facebook-owned messaging platform always keeps up the effort on making a load of new features for users day by day. Here're some of the most interesting features that WhatsApp is expected to release soon for making things easier.
Dark Mode
Following the trend of many other platforms like YouTube, Twitter, and Messenger, WhatsApp has rumoredly worked on the feature as well. Once you turned on the dark mode, WhatsApp's background would be colored with dark grey. Besides, the subtexts are displayed in white and the icons and headings are all visible in the signature green color.
However, Dark Mode has not yet available on the public beta version. It's not clear about the exact release date.
Hide online status
In term of user privacy, the platform is said to give you the maximum possibility as much as it can. It's expected to let you control your online/offline activity on the platform. Prior to this, let you hide your last seen, even the read receipts in the conversation.
Full-size images
Sending photos via WhatsApp is the easiest and most convenient way to share our media with friends. The platform has automatically reduced the image resolution of photos over the years, which can lead to specific details being hidden from photos. However, it's supposed to no longer resize the original quality of photos.
Cross-platform backup
When changing the phone, it's quite easy and fast for you to use the same WhatsApp account on the new device. You can easily backup your chats history as well as restoring them on the device that you've switched to. Keep in mind that WhatsApp will synchronize your backup data on Google Drive - if you have Android phone and on iCloud - if you're using an iPhone. In spite of this convenience, the issue will happen when cross-platform users want to replace their old Android device with another Apple's iOS device.
For those who want to switch their phones, it's kinda risky as you may lose all backed up data. In the meantime, Apple always puts a strict policy on user data, so chats are understandably saved only on iCloud.
WhatsApp Pay
Last year, WhatsApp said its UPI-based payment system is under development. However, the plan seems to need room for improvement, while there's only the beta version of WhatsApp Pay. The company is set to launch this feature not only for Indian users but also for users in other markets.
